Goldlink 42

The latest issue of Goldlink, your free alumni magazine, is now available to view online.

This issue includes an interview with alumnus and DJ, Rob da Bank (BA French Studies, 1995). Rob and his wife Josie (BA Textiles, 1995) co-founded several music festivals including Bestival on the Isle of Wight, Camp Bestival in Lulworth, Dorset, and more recently, Common People in Southampton.

Also in this issue, alumnus and former Students’ Union President, John Lauwerys (BEd Education, 1970), recollects the all-night summer ball of 1966, which featured an incredible line-up including The Kinks and John Cleese (before he became a Python!).

In a feature entitled, ‘London Smells’, Goldsmiths Lecturer in Sociology and alumnus Dr Alex Rhys-Taylor (PhD Sociology, 2011) explores how smells helped to build London and how they remain integral to our attachment to the city today.
