Raindance Film Festival screens alumni film

The Raindance Film Festival is the largest and most important independent film festival in the UK. This year’s Raindance Film Festival will take place from 21 September to 2 October 2016 in Central London (Piccadilly Circus), screening 100 feature films and over 150 short films.

Palace of Fun produced by George Stocks (BA English, 2013) and starring George Stocks and Phoebe Naughton (BA Drama and Theatre Arts, 2013) will show at this year’s festival. Find out more about the screenings on Friday, 23 September and Wednesday, 28 September.

About Palace of Fun

Lily and Finn begin a summer romance after they meet one evening in a nightclub. Instantly smitten with one another, Finn is invited to spend a week in Lily’s opulent Sussex house until her parents return from their trip to Italy. However, the situation is disrupted when Jamie, Lily’s younger brother, fortuitously discovers a revealing secret about Finn. But instead of telling Lily what he knows, Jamie decides to use it to play a dangerous and sinister game.

Raindance showcases features, shorts and music videos by filmmakers from the UK and around the world celebrating and supporting independent, new and alternative filmmakers not just during the 12-day festival but throughout the year.

Raindance satisfies the public’s thirst for original filmmaking through its diverse international programming. The focus of their programming changes each year to reflect current trends in UK and world cinema. The new underground, Japanese cinema, European, North American and UK indies feature regularly alongside their other strands from all over the world. It is also an Academy Award and BAFTA qualifying festival, as well as being closely associated with the BIFAs.

Actor/writer George Stocks (BA English, 2013) is one-third of Stox Pictures, a British independent film production company based in Brighton and London. Established in 2012 with his brothers producer David Stocks and writer/director Eadward Stocks, they sought to create a company that allowed them to produce original material collaboratively.

phoebe-naughton-300x280Phoebe Naughton (BA Drama and Theatre Arts, 2013) is an actor and founding member of Gruff Theatre, who were recently featured on Goldlink Online.
